How To Get into Christian Matrimony
Any person who belongs to christian community can get into Christian Matrimony. The only necessity for getting into a wedlock of Christian matrimony is that one of the persons who are getting into a wedlock should belong to christian community.
A person has a choice for getting into wedlock through the procedure of court marriage or through the customs in the Church but that should be followed by all the rituals as per the Church of Scotland.
Procedure for Church marriage as per Christian Matrimony:-
If you belong to a christian community then the rules applied on you for the purpose of getting married will be as per the provisions laid down under The Christian Marriage Act 1872. In which there are few things prescribed if one is getting into a wedlock in the Church as per the customs and rituals of Christianity.
- That one among both bride and groom should be a christian.
- The age of groom should not be less than 21 and the age of bride should be at least 18.
- There should not be any living spouse of both husband and wife at the time of getting married.
- The marriage should be performed by or in presence of the person who is authorized to perform the marriage as per the defined customs, rituals and beliefs of christianity. The person should be a clergyman or a priest who can help in performing the rituals as per the customs of the Church of Scotland.
- A wedlock can happen in front of the church Minister who is authorized to perform the christian wedding as per the rituals, customs and beliefs of the christianity.
- The marriage needs to be further registered in the court for getting it legitimate as per Indian Law system.
Procedure for the Court Marriage:-
If a person is doing court marriage then the procedure should be followed will be as follows:-
Documents required:-
- An application form with full detail of both bride and groom.
- Passport size picture of both bride and groom for the marriage.
- If done marriage in church then a certificate of marriage issued by the minister or priest of the church for the intended wedding.
- Two photographs of a church wedding.
- Address proof of both the parties.
- If directly in court then affidavits by both bride and groom.
- Affidavits of the witnesses.
Notice of Marriage:-
If a person is planning for a court marriage then both the parties need to send a written notice to the marriage registrar of their area defining their intention for the wedding.
Pledge before the registrar:-
That the marriage is happening on their own will with their consent and there are no obstacles in the marriage and this being done in the area of residency is within the jurisdiction of the local marriage registrar.
Certificate of Notice:-
After the pledge the registrar sends the certificate of notice for the intention of wedding of the bride and groom within the four days of pledge before the registrar.
Registration of marriage:-
Marriage has been registered in the court in front of two witnesses from both bride and groom side. Both the parties need to sign the documents along with the witnesses in front of the registrar and can then receive the acknowledgment slip for the same.
Finally they are officially married.
